Our Story

The story behind Fierce Fish Ocean Adventures begins with Captain Jay, a seasoned boater and passionate outdoorsman. Born out of a deep love for marine life, storytelling, and showcasing the wonders of British Columbia’s coast, our company emerged from years of exploring the enchanting Discovery Islands.

Jay’s vision was to create truly personal tours – experiences that feel like a local friend taking you out to explore Campbell River’s waters, not a corporate checklist.

Fierce Fish Ocean Adventures is proudly Indigenous owned and operated. Captain Jay’s roots stem from the Saddle Lake Cree Nation in Alberta, bringing a unique perspective and deep respect for the land and sea to every adventure we offer.

With years of experience navigating the waters around Quadra and a lifetime on boats, Jay brings not just skill, but genuine excitement to every tour.

Whether he’s teaching first-timers salmon fishing or guiding you quietly toward a pod of orcas, Jay’s focus is always on making the trip safe, smooth, and special.

2nd Captain Lucas

During our busiest times, you may have the pleasure of being guided by our professional divemaster and second captain, Lucas Gentina.

With an extensive background in diving and a genuine passion for the local marine environment, Lucas brings extensive knowledge and a commitment to creating incredible marine experiences for every guest.
